About Carrie Glenn
Carrie Glenn, the author and illustrator, studied painting at the University of Iowa in Iowa City before going on to be the floral arranger at Chez Panisse in Berkeley, California for thirty-five years. Inspired by the beauty of nature, she was known for her innovative use of tree branches with ripe fruit, wild grasses, vines, and even weeds. Her illustrations in this book are partly realistic, which she hopes will encourage children to notice the small living things around them.
About Cybèle, An Apricot
Cybèle’s story was inspired by the sight of fallen apricots covered with snail tracks each morning in the author’s garden. The story’s characters are endowed with imaginary lives and human emotions.
